Creativity, productivity, customer care, collaboration, problem solving, your vision of what is possible – these things (and many more) are made easier when you are in a good mood.
You mood will influence how you act and behave; it will also influence the people around you. A good mood is contagious – so make yours worth catching!
Your Mood is Infectious
The saying goes “You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.”
That’s true. Who wants to engage with or buy from a miserable person?
How often does it grate when you get lazy or dismissive service in a shop? How likely are you to shop there again?
So, it goes to prove that if you surround yourself with upbeat, positive people you are more likely to feel upbeat and positive yourself.
The outcome?
You will achieve greater productivity, creativity and innovation.
The Pipes and Drains Effect
Pipes provide fresh water in our taps, heat in our radiators – they bring good things.
In this context, Pipes are the people that bring you confidence and support. They encourage that upbeat mood that makes you smile and, importantly, they make you feel that you can achieve anything.
Drains, on the other hand, are full of nasty stuff.
People who are Drains lower your mood, pull that confidence out of you and leave you feeling as if it’s all too much.
Take a look around you.
When do you feel most like you can conquer the world? What gives you that feeling? Are there any people in your life that always contribute to those feelings?
On the opposite side of things, when do you feel least able to cope or lack self-confidence?
Who makes you feel like that?
Know Your Pipes and Know Your Drains
Who are your Pipes and who are your Drains?
Nurture and cultivate the Pipes relationships and move away from those Drains relationships.
You will become more effective and your mood will be more positive.
Remember, a good mood is contagious!
