Hello, I’m Kathy, a business mentor, international trainer and speaker with a desire to help people make a successful business out of doing what they love.
With more than 20 years’ experience of running my own businesses, I’ve had some amazing highs and made some smashing, loyal friends, business partners and clients. I’ve also made some costly, time-wasting mistakes along the way. So, I know what it takes to build a successful business, and I know the pitfalls to avoid.
That’s why I work with small and micro businesses, using everything I have learnt to enable them to achieve their ambitions, to have the security of repeat business and to generate a profitable income. I work across all aspects of business but specialise in strategic planning; visual communication; branding and personal brand creation; online and offline engagement marketing; and email marketing.
As well as working on a one-to-one basis, I am a highly-skilled trainer, delivering group training and workshops throughout the UK. I am also an international speaker, presenting on key business topics to delegates across the UK and Europe.

When I read this article, I had a massive ‘Eureka’ moment!
I had been running my own business since 2001, working as a very successful personal and corporate image consultant. I really enjoyed what I was doing, and loved seeing the transformation in people’s confidence and self-esteem. But I felt there was something missing, there was a gap. It may sound odd, but even though I was helping people with their image, I was never interested in fashion and I really dislike shopping!
Tom Peter’s article broadened my understanding and sparked my interest in the concept of personal branding.
At the same time, I had also stumbled across the work of Erving Goffman. Goffman wrote a book back in the late 1950s called The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life. In that book he explains that, as human beings, we are natural chameleons who have the ability to adapt our variety of personas to a range of social situations. We instinctively understand how to change speech patterns, body language, behaviours and even dress according to the situations in which we find ourselves.
Goffman went on to explain that, if we can do this naturally and instinctively, then surely we can also ‘manage’ the process to ensure that we are always the right person, in the right place, at the right time. He called this impression management.
And there is was. I found my ‘gap’. I didn’t want to continue simply offering one-to-one image consultancy, I wanted to incorporate the concepts of personal branding and impression management into my business. So, I set up a company where I worked with individuals, organisations and corporate institutions, delivering personal development and training on personal branding, professional impact and dress codes, as well as effective presentation and networking skills.
But I still felt there was something missing ...
Then, about eight years ago, something strange started to happen ...
People started asking me out for coffee. People contacted me because they had an issue or a problem with their business, with their marketing, or with their ability to make a profit - and they wanted my advice on what to do, who to talk to etc.
I am a huge believer in giving back (and I love coffee) so I was more than happy to meet up for a chat and to give advice or suggest solutions. The problem was my diary was full, but my bank balance wasn’t - and I had developed a serious caffeine habit!
So that was the catalyst to me making the biggest change in my business. After having two successful businesses of my own, I started to focus on helping other business owners to be as successful with theirs. I now use my extensive experience to equip people with the knowledge, skills and resources to develop a business which not only lights their fire, but enables them to live the life they want to lead.
I’m very fortunate that I not only get to work one-to-one with small and micro business owners, but I am asked to share my knowledge and experience through workshops and at public speaking gigs across the UK and Europe. There’s nothing I love more than making a difference to people’s businesses – that, and drinking coffee of course!
