Kathy has been a huge support — professionally and personally — and helped me keep going through everything.
Strategy, Support, and So Many Useful Tools
A Spark of an Idea and the Right Support to Get Started
I first met Kathy at a PRIME course; a programme for people over 50 who wanted to start a business. Kathy was leading the course, and I gained so much practical, grounded knowledge from those sessions. It gave me the confidence to create my product and officially launch Hold Tightly.
That experience stuck with me. After the course, I became a regular reader of Kathy’s weekly newsletter and blog, picking up her tips and guidance on all sorts of business good practice. So when I reached a point where I needed more tailored support, I knew exactly who to turn to.
Over time, Kathy and I have worked together on a wide range of areas, all of which have helped move my business forward, step by step.
Some of the key topics we covered included:
- Time management – getting things done without burnout
- List building – growing my email list in a meaningful way
- Networking – how to connect with the right people (without awkwardness!)
- Strategic planning – making sure I have a clear direction and structure
- Online marketing – including email campaigns and content ideas
- Copy and content support – Kathy’s always been willing to read through and offer constructive, clear feedback
Her advice is always honest, thoughtful, and practical — and she balances support with gentle challenge when it’s needed. Her insight and calm approach are invaluable.
Growth, Exposure, and Resilience
Thanks to Kathy’s mentoring and guidance, Hold Tightly has grown in ways I could never have imagined at the start.
Some of the highlights so far:
- We’ve been featured in The Times and The Daily Telegraph
- I became a member of Enterprise Nation
- I’m now exploring opportunities to stock products in national stores
- I’ve expanded the business vision to include new products, funding ideas, and future-proofing
My most recent session with Kathy covered all sorts of new ground from financing and expansion to navigating potential pitfalls. It’s always strategic and always useful.
But what I’m most grateful for is Kathy’s support during a really difficult time in my personal life. When a family illness meant I couldn’t work at full pace, she helped me put coping mechanisms in place to keep the business ticking over and even growing. Her calm, professional support during that time made all the difference.
Kathy has been an enormous help to me, not just in business, but in life. Her knowledge, honesty, and no-fuss style make her an outstanding Mentor. I recommend her to anyone who’s serious about building a business and doing it with clarity and heart.
